💬 I Knew the Media Would Lie About This—And They Did

The Rubin Recap, Issue 42

Got a shoe thrown at me… someone’s getting fired!

HELLO 2026!

This has been a wild first week, and the Trump administration is clearly back in full force: no warm-up, no apologies, no punches pulled. Greenland. Venezuela. ICE in Minneapolis. Media meltdowns. Welcome to January.

Let’s start with Venezuela, because this is where the experts are absolutely losing their minds. Yes, Maduro is in custody. Yes, there’s a plan for a transition. And no, this is not Iraq. Marco Rubio laid out a clear three-phase approach: stabilize the country, ensure the West has access to Venezuelan markets, and finally, transition to legitimate governance. If you’ve spent five minutes talking to Venezuelan expats in Miami, you know why this matters—they didn’t flee capitalism, they fled communist dictatorship. At the same time, the U.S. is seizing Venezuelan oil tankers, cutting off a major energy partner for China, Iran, and Russia—leverage matters, whether it’s geopolitics or something as mundane as grabbing ivermectin from TWC Wellness and moving on with your day. Weakening Maduro weakens our adversaries. That’s some good Art of the Deal strategy.

Of course, the media doesn’t want to give Trump credit for this historic win. We now have pundits on CNN bending themselves into pretzels—even defending cocaine—to undermine what was a clean, historic military operation that every Venezuelan is happy for! As Pete Hegseth said to CNN, they’re searching for any angle, no matter how deranged, to downplay a major American win. It’s the same reason so many people have simply stopped trusting these legacy institutions altogether—whether that’s cable news or the so-called “experts” who are wrong about literally everything. That skepticism has spilled over into other areas of life too, including how people think about personal preparedness and health—which is why many of you have written to me asking about options like Ivermectin from TWC Wellness.

From our sponsor:

MADE-IN-USA WONDER DRUG: WHERE TO GET IT SAFELY?

Ivermectin proved its value during the pandemic and is now used for skin conditions, parasite cleanses, and off-label chronic medical needs. But beware: nearly 95% of online drug sites operate illegally, putting you at risk of counterfeit meds.

This is why Americans trust The Wellness Company. TWC provides 100% American-made Ivermectin, sourced from licensed pharmacies and prescribed by qualified doctors in each state. Get up to 25mg Ivermectin priced right; safely and transparently.

Then there’s Greenland. Trump has been crystal clear about this, no matter how much the media tries to spin it: this isn’t about minerals or some colonial fantasy—it’s about national security. Greenland sits at a strategic choke point in the Arctic, right as Russia and China are expanding their military and naval presence in the region. The U.S. already relies on Greenland for missile defense and early-warning systems, and Trump’s argument is simple: as the Arctic becomes more contested, America can’t afford to let adversaries quietly gain ground right off our northern flank.

Despite the panic porn, no one is invading Greenland. The preferred outcome is exactly what Trump has said from the start—buying Greenland, or at the very least securing long-term, ironclad basing and security rights. This is classic Trump: apply pressure, force the issue into the open, and negotiate from strength. Whether it ends in a purchase or a broader security deal with Denmark, the goal is the same—locking in stability and keeping Russia and China in check for decades. Once again, “America First” doesn’t mean “America Only.” It means peace through strength.

And because it wouldn’t be a complete week without total madness, we also had the ICE shooting in Minneapolis. Here’s what the media keeps leaving out: if you actually watch the frontal video, you can clearly see the agent was in front Renee Good’s vehicle, not to the side. The car made contact. The bullet went through the windshield—which only happens if the shot is fired from the front. Facts matter. It’s also worth noting this same ICE officer was struck by a vehicle during enforcement just six months ago. Everything is on edge for these agents. And let's be real: this is also the fault of the MSM and Dem politicians, whose nonstop demonization of ICE as "Nazis" or "gestapo" has convinced people they can get violent toward agents without facing any repercussions—rhetoric that's directly fueled a massive spike in assaults and threats against them.

Meanwhile, New York City continues its sprint toward insanity. Zohran is pushing clown-court style rent tribunals that feel straight out of The Dark Knight Rises, with Scarecrow sentencing people to walk the ice or be executed. On top of that, one of Mamdani’s cabinet picks, Cea Weaver, is now trying to walk back comments suggesting private property should be viewed as a “collective good.” That’s not nuance—that’s communism. New York City is already hanging by a thread, and these people are determined to snap it. As I said on the show this week: New York… You’re FUCKED!

One last thing that genuinely made me smile: Ron DeSantis mentioned that Maduro could also face charges in Florida, not just New York. And if that happens, I’m officially calling it—we’re doing a Rubin Report field trip. Wherever the courthouse is, we’re going. I’ll pack applesauce for Joseph, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the team, and Capri Sun pouches for Phoenix. Field trip rules apply. And yes, the “Buddy System” will be required as well.

Buckle up. 2026 is not here to mess around.

THE TOP PERFORMING MEMBER OF THE TRUMP TEAM POLL RESULTS:

So it looks like you guys really thought Marco Rubio was the top performing Trump peep — good call. But now it’s time to see what y’all think about the Libs.

On one hand, you’ve got Moron Zamboni out there pretending to be a normal New Yorker. I mean, it’s like watching someone LARP as a regular person: filing potholes, riding the subway — look at me, I’m just like you! Come on.

Then on the other hand, you’ve got AOC, who took one look at the video of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis and decided the ICE agent who responded — in what federal officials are calling self-defense during a federal enforcement action — was a “criminal who murdered a woman.”

Tough choice, people. Get your vote in ⬇️

Tweet of the week

  • Scott Jennings’ Rubin Report sit-down drops tomorrow. We finally had him in studio earlier this week for his first full interview, which is kind of funny considering how many times we’ve played clips of him over the years. Not sure how it took this long, but better late than never.

  • Be sure to watch today’s Rubin Report Roundtable. We had a first-time roundtable appearance from Batya Ungar-Sargon alongside longtime RR vet Michael Knowles, and the conversation went exactly where you’d expect — and then some.

  • As always, Save Water, and Drink Copal — get your Copal HERE

  • The Rubin Report merch store has the official Moron Zamboni T-shirt — and plenty of other great Rubin Report gear. Peruse it all right here.

  • TWC Wellness continues to offer ivermectin for those who want more control over their own health decisions - Use code "RUBINRECAP” for $90 off!
