💬 Marco Rubio's chilling prediction, and America's new liar-in-chief
The Rubin Recap, Issue 50 ...
How many times on The Rubin Report have I shown you a video of a Democrat from 10 or 15 years ago saying something that is the polar opposite of what that person says today? That clip of Chuck Schumer from 1996 talking about ID to prevent illegals from committing fraud I highlighted a couple weeks ago was a banger.
Those videos are very telling about the Democrats’ moral grounding, which is to say they have no moral grounding. They will literally change what they’re saying based on how they think the political winds are blowing. They hold no positions — other than wanting to be re-elected.
This week on the show, I played some old videos of Republicans to see how their views on tough issues may have changed. Spoiler alert. They haven’t.
Check out the video below. It’s Marco Rubio speaking on the Senate floor about Obama giving Iran billions of dollars in his nuclear deal. In 2015.
Isn’t that wild? I could’ve shown you that video and said it was Rubio speaking yesterday about Iran. That’s how little his position has changed. And, frankly, the guy looks like he’s barely aged over the last 11 years.
Equally important as the substance of what Rubio said in that clip was the fact that he said, “I want this recorded for history's purposes.” He wanted people to know that he was going to be on the right side of this, and it should be no surprise that someone with that level of consistency is working in the Cabinet of Donald Trump.
And what did Trump have to say about Iran 11 years ago? Let’s throw back to a clip of Trump talking about Iran in 2015 — before he officially began running.
“If I run for president and if I win, I would totally succeed in creating jobs, defeating ISIS, and stopping the Islamic terrorists,” Trump said. “Reducing the budget deficit. So important. Have to do it. Securing our southern border. And I mean seriously securing. Stopping nuclear weapons in Iran and elsewhere.” Most of those things he’s accomplished at this point.
This is why I say Donald Trump deserves our trust right now. He has been directionally right on just about everything. For decades.
Lady eyelashes’ bid for U.S. senate went down in a blaze of glory this week, with her trying to blame the loss — in a Democrat primary race — on Republicans. We know she’s a far-left lunatic and, as she showed again this week, we know she’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but somehow Jasmine Crockett managed to get beaten by someone who’s even nuttier than she is.
His name is James Talarico and he’s a Texas state lawmaker who has said some mind-bending things in the past — on camera! Here are four of his greatest hits:
“Poverty is violence. Pollution is violence. And yes, prison is violence.”
“As citizens, every one of our neighbors with a uterus became the property of the state.”
“I want to acknowledge that our trans community needs abortion care, too.”
“I want us all to be aware that modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six.”
Right. Obviously … And it gets even crazier than that — can’t list them all here, but you can watch this and hear what he’s said about Jesus and much more.
Next he’s going to say Jesus supports UBI, wind farms, open borders, and pronoun mandates. That’s a joke, obviously, but if he sees this email, I wouldn’t put it past him to plagiarize and throw that line right into his stump speech.
Last thing I want to touch on before we get to the poll: Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly.
I want to choose my words carefully here. Tucker Carlson has become the number one liar-in-chief in America. Everything he says is a lie. When he says something, you can assume the opposite is true. And you saw that this week with Tucker suggesting Israel forced the U.S. into a war with Iran. What happened in the Oval Office? Trump said, if anything, the U.S. forced Israel to act. The exact opposite of what Tucker said.
Tucker has become a propagandist, but that’s not what’s going on with Megyn Kelly, who I had a good relationship with for years. Megyn doesn’t have nefarious intentions like Tucker does — she’s just a product of the mainstream media who is obsessed with ratings. She'll do whatever she has for has to do for clicks. And for some reason, right now, Megyn Kelly believes blaming Ben Shapiro and Mark Levin for the U.S. attacking Iran is the way to get clicks.
Yes, Ben Shapiro talks remarkably fast. But no — his commentary had no bearing on Trump’s decision-making.
Ilhan Omar still the worst Democrat in America by a mile

In the end, it really wasn’t even close. I hadn’t polled you guys on who the worst Democrat is since December, and the same miscreant who won big then won again last week. It was a runaway for Ilhan Omar. Gavin Newsom was a distant second, with Rashida Tlaib, Chuck Schumer, and Jasmine Crockett rounding out the top 5.
I think Rubin Recap readers rjsellers10406 and christicarter10 were spot-on with their summaries on why they voted for Ilhan Omar.

This week, we’re back to the Top Trump Peeps poll. Changes were afoot. Kristi Noem is out — she’s no longer serving at the pleasure of the president, but I guess still serving at the pleasure of Corey Lewandowski? 😂 — Markwayne Mullin is in. Hegseth has been on point leading the Iran war effort. Rubio’s been, well, Rubio. Who ya got this week? ⬇️
📊 In your mind, who is the top performing member of the Trump team right now?Choose one name from the list below -- and feel free to leave a comment and elaborate, or mention the name of someone not listed here. |
• During this week’s community Q&A, Glenn asked, “What were your favorite TV shows when you were a kid?” You know I love getting these sorts of nostalgia-type questions. No surprise that the The Golden Girls was one of may faves growing up. I also loved The Cosby Show, and also had a couple of animated shows in the top four that I mentioned in the answer to Glenn. Here’s the one I did on Monday’s show that prompted all of the comments, and here's my explanation on why I have to keep it a limited edition impression. If you, reader, have a pop culture or nostalgia question, just hit reply on this email and ask away.
• Had a great Rubin Report roundtable on Friday with Jaime Michell, the Founder of Gays Against Groomers, and Jacob Smith of The Moderate Case, who each made their Rubin Report debut. We also brought back the new segment “This Week On The Internet” for some Friday comic relief. Click here if you just want the jokes and here for the full episode.
• Have I mentioned that Copal’s available for purchase? Yes, that Copal — the official tequila of free speech. You can place an order here. Buy three and we’ll be so kind as to ship them for free.
• You did it! You’ve reached the end of the newsletter. This is the 50th issue I’ve sent since I launched The Rubin Recap last May (not including the new Sunday editions.) 50 issues of The Rubin Recap in this my 50th year on earth. Here’s to another 50 — hopefully of both!
