Yet the Democratic establishment and their surrogates acted shocked when the stories resurfaced, as if they hadn’t already decided his baggage was acceptable.

Then Jenny Racicot came forward with a detailed allegation that Platner raped her in 2021. Suddenly the same people who had defended him for weeks decided the line had been crossed. The tattoo that once wasn’t a big deal? Problematic. The pattern of behavior toward women? Now disqualifying. The excuses dried up the moment his polling started slipping and the liability became too expensive to carry.

Ro Khanna, unsurprisingly, managed to come out of this looking like the biggest clown. For weeks, Khanna went full ride-or-die for Platner. He campaigned with him, hit every major network, and bent over so far backwards excusing the sexual violence allegations and the Nazi tattoo that it was almost impressive. He kept telling anyone who would listen that Maine voters already knew about Platner’s “dark chapters” and were happy to give him grace and a chance at redemption. Those viral clips of those interviews are brutal now, and they’re only getting worse.

Scott Jennings called the bigger issue perfectly: replacing the primary winner now is just Democrats trying to override the will of Maine voters who knew exactly who they were voting for.

The truth is simple: Democrats didn’t suddenly grow a conscience. Platner’s polling was dropping, he became too toxic to carry, and they threw him under the bus the second he stopped being useful. Ro Khanna just happened to be the loudest one doing the defending, which is why he now looks like the biggest clown in the entire circus.
