How the machine launders the lies, another nugget of style advice, why congratulations are in order for former RNC Chairman Michael Steele, the sit-down interview of the week, the "Danubin Report," and more ...

WELCOME BACK TO THE NEW NEWSLETTER. I BRIEFLY, AND ONLY SLIGHTLY, DISROBED ON THE SHOW THIS WEEK. LET ME EXPLAIN ...

Welcome to the third edition of The Rubin Recap! It's my new revamped newsletter and I hope you're enjoying it.

As you can see in the screenshot, I did briefly, and only partially, disrobe during Tuesday’s episode of the Rubin Report. Once again, I found myself dispensing style advice to someone in dire need. In this case, I was helping young David Hogg, the waifish vice chair of the DNC, understand how to properly roll up your sleeves. He looked slovenly during an appearance he made on a talk show this week, so I thought the least I could do for the guy was help him with his sleeve-rolling game. And last week, in case you missed it, I gave Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer some style advice on how NOT to wear glasses. Ya know, I might have to make this a regular segment on the show.

But so much more was going this week as I traveled to Budapest for CPAC Hungary. So, with all of that in mind, here are some of the highlights of what we covered this week on the Rubin Report, as well as on the “Danubin Report” …

TUESDAY: DEEP STATE LIES ON LATE-NIGHT TV

Remember when late-night TV was just a funny and relaxing way to end your day? It’s a quaint idea, I know. Because in the 2020s, late-night TV is now a place that Trump-hating government officials and ex-officials go to launder their lies. That's exactly what happened when former FBI Director James Comey went on Stephen Colbert's CBS Late Show. Colbert helped Comey lie about that “86 47” image he posted on social media -- which earned him a visit from the Secret Service. Comey told Colbert this delightful little story about how he and his wife were just wandering along the beach so innocently and happened to stumble upon a beautiful art installation, which consisted of some seashells arranged to spell out 86 47. And he just had no clue what those numbers could possibly mean.

We all know that 86 means to get rid of something. It's an expression that's been used in restaurants as well as in the Mafia, by operatives when carrying out a hit. "Drive 8 miles out and bury him 6 feet under." But no -- to Comey and his wife after they spent some time trying to figure it out, it was just a “clever little political message" left in the sand by someone else. The lies, people!

Now, is Comey actually threatening Trump? I don't know ... it's true that he's trying to sell a new book and needs some publicity and this stunt clearly worked for that purpose. But since Trump was elected back in 2016, there's been a growing distrust of the "Deep State," a loosely defined cadre of unelected officials in the CIA, FBI, NSA and other wings of the bureaucracy that many believe have acted to derail Trump's agenda and prevent him from making it back to the White House. You would think that the former leader of the FBI -- who peddled the Russian pee tape misinformation -- would have the wisdom to act a little more responsibly when hawking his book. These people have the devil working inside them. Watch:

WEDNESDAY: IS CAITLIN CLARK IN THE WNBA OR THE UFC?

Caitlin Clark is the player the WNBA has been waiting for. She's electric on the court handling the ball, shoots the lights out and has helped to elevate the league, which has been a consistent money loser since its inception, to a cultural phenomenon that people are actually talking about semi-regularly now. You would think the rest of the players in the WNBA would be grateful for the positive attention she's brought to the league. And you'd be wrong.

Since graduating from college and entering the WNBA, Clark has just been physically abused on the court time and time again by players on the opposing teams. Elbows flying, extra hard fouls -- you name it. It’s like she entered the WNBA and wound up in the UFC through some weird mishap. On top of all that, there's clearly been a racial element to the abuse because, as you likely know, Clark is white in a league dominated by black (and oftentimes lesbian) players.

So that's the backdrop for what happened over the last week between Brittney Griner and Clark. As Griner was setting a screen on Clark, she threw an elbow into Clark's face, and was called for a foul. As Griner went to the bench to sit down, TV cameras caught a close-up of her appearing to say, "trash f**king white girl." Watch the clip here -- it's unbelievable. No real uproar, no discipline handed down to Griner from the WNBA. Imagine if the roles were reversed here and Clark had said, "trash f**king black girl."

Brittney Griner, you may recall, was caught traveling through Russia with marijuana and subsequently imprisoned there. Eventually, the Biden administration traded Viktor Bout, a Russian arms dealer known as the "Merchant of Death," for Griner in late 2022 as part of a prisoner swap. Since that trade, well, you see what Griner’s been up to, but what about Viktor Bout? The “Merchant of Death” is back to his old ways, now dealing arms to the Houthis. Autopen, anyone?

THURSDAY: AUTOPEN MYSTERY SOLVED? AND THE 411 ON THE BTC

I've joked many, many times on my show that Joe Biden was the old man in the White House pretending to be president, and the more we're learning about the reality of the Biden administration as time goes on, that remark is looking less like a joke and more like a prediction that has come true. This week David Sacks, Trump's A.I. and cryptocurrency czar, went on Fox News and revealed that Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. Senator from Massachusetts -- yes, Faux-cohontas, pretend Indian Elizabeth Warren -- was one of the people who was in control of Joe Biden's autopen. Now, maybe David Sacks is right that it was Warren dictating which executive orders Biden should sign. Or maybe it was Chuck Schumer, or Nancy Pelosi, or Jill Biden, or Jill Biden's shady chief of staff, as David Hogg was caught on video saying. It looks more and more like it was not Biden who was in control. And that is one of the biggest scandals in American history, people. I mean, if I'm looking for a bright side to the autopen scandal, I guess it's true that the autopen was able to churn out Biden signatures faster than Kamala Harris was able to churn out word salads. And you thought the Biden administration wasn't an efficient operation?

Sacks went on to criticize Elizabeth Warren's hostility toward cryptocurrency, saying Warren "for some reason has this pathological hatred of the crypto community." He added that the senator simply doesn't want cryptocurrency happening in the U.S., and "that's the wrong policy for the United States. This is a financial system of the future -- it's cheaper, it's more efficient," Sacks concluded.

If David Sacks' outlook isn't enough to persuade you on the potential of cryptocurrencies, which are decentralized peer-to-peer payments, maybe Vice President JD Vance's remarks a few days ago on Bitcoin will convince you. "We want our fellow Americans to know that crypto and digital assets and particularly Bitcoin are part of the mainstream economy and are here to stay," Vance said at the Bitcoin conference in Las Vegas. Vance astutely pointed out that China's leaders hate Bitcoin and the whole idea of cryptocurrency, which means Americans should love it -- and embrace it.

But not Elizabeth Warren. Why is that? Maybe because Warren, who postures as an economic populist, is in bed with big banks, and, as an influential lawmaker, she can have a hand in regulating those banks. All of which means she wants government telling you how to do commerce, how to do business, how to invest. And speaking of government managing Bitcoin, President Trump earlier this year revealed that the Biden administration, in March of 2024, sold off tens of thousands of Bitcoins, which now would be worth billions more as Bitcoin has surged to record-high prices since Trump's election to a second term. SMH. Thankfully, under the Trump administration, it appears the U.S. is going to be leaning back into Bitcoin in a big way. And speaking of investing, check out this investment opportunity from our sponsor Ryse.

FRIDAY: ON LOCATION FROM THE SIR ROGER SCRUTON CAFE IN BUDAPEST

The last Rubin Report of the week was done on location at the Sir Roger Scruton Cafe in Budapest, named, of course, for the legendary conservative British writer, Roger Scruton. And I did the show sitting at Scruton's desk, which was a thrill. This truly was the “Danubin Report” — get it?

Just because I'm traveling overseas doesn't mean the news cycle in the U.S. stops, and we explored in a little more depth the undercover video released this week by Project Veritas showing DNC Vice Chair David Hogg revealing some devastating details about who was really running things at the White House during Joe Biden's presidency. I alluded to it above, but Hogg was caught on camera explaining that the inner circle around Biden wielded "an enormous amount of power." Hogg and Deterrrian Jones, a former digital strategist in the Biden White House, singled out Anthony Bernal, Jill Biden's chief of staff, as the White House puppetmaster. What a revelation! It wasn't even Joe Biden's chief of staff running the White House -- but Jill Biden's chief of staff. And I'm sure more will continue to drip out about who was doing what during the Biden presidency. It really casts that moment late in his presidency when Biden held his first cabinet meeting in 11 months and then immediately handed over the reins of the meeting to Jill in a whole new light. You'll remember that video. We touched on much more in this episode -- watch it in full here.

Before I wrap up, just a quick note on the chance to host the show from the Sir Roger Scruton Cafe. The mission of the cafe is to share and pass on Scruton's spirit, which honors Hungarian conservative tradition and values, to a wider audience. They are committed to presenting a conservative form of value creation in a way and place that appeals to future generations. The community space also serves as an intellectual workshop where they aim to provide answers to today's pressing questions. I know what I do reflects their intention to share knowledge and values through their programs. And I could really feel that spirit there, and I think that spirit is pretty consistent with what we do at the Rubin Report. Scruton also had a great sense of humor, which was evident in a quote of his that I love: "I drink, therefore I am."

SIT-DOWN INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK: ROB HERSOV

Is South Africa in the throes of a genocide? I’ve suggested that there is targeted violence toward white farmers that is becoming increasingly pervasive there, but that the attacks haven’t ascended to full-on genocide yet. So this week, I sat down with South African businessman Rob Hersov, who said his country very well could be headed down the dark road toward genocide if the violence isn't addressed soon.

Hersov discussed growing up in apartheid South Africa, the eventual fall of apartheid in the 1990s, his own realization about racial injustice as well as his privileged upbringing. I asked Hersov straight up whether what's been happening there over the last two years or so amounts to genocide, and he said that the common perception of the word genocide centers on a single concept: extermination.

Here's where it got really interesting, though. Hersov listed the 10 elements that taken together amount to genocide, and ninth on that list is extermination. He said South Africa has seven of those elements happening simultaneously right now, meaning the country is dangerously close to allowing genocide. But Hersov said "mass extermination" is not currently taking place there, though he did caution that there are targeted killings and rapes of white farmers taking place in alarming numbers. He also pointed out that a video in which South African politician Julius Malema, who is the founder and leader of a far-left extremist group, can be heard saying, "We have not yet cut the throat of whiteness," should be viewed as an urgent warning given that economic genocide against white people is already happening in South Africa.

Incidentally, that video of Malema was shown during the extraordinary Oval Office meeting in which Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with that footage and other images of the violence against white farmers. So, we discussed that tense meeting and how Trump is maybe the only world leader taking on this crisis.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MICHAEL STEELE FOR WINNING D-BAG OF THE WEEK

Huge congratulations to former RNC Chairman Michael Steele for winning the Rubin Report's Douchebag of the Week award. I've interviewed Michael Steele. He was once a sane Republican and, at one point, was a good man. I have no idea what happened to him in recent years, particularly since he started working for MSNBC-13. I'm not sure what they do to people at that network to break their brains -- maybe they're putting something in the coffee? But here's what Michael Steele had to say on MSNBC-13 that clinched him the title this week:
