🎃 We finally got to see Mamdani not wearing his 'Halloween' costume
The Rubin Recap, Issue 33 ...
In partnership with
Mamdani is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and just before Halloween video of him ‘out of costume’ emerged
Happy Halloween! I know many Rubin Report viewers have asked what myself, David and the kids will be dressing up as for Halloween this year. In case you missed me talking about it on the show this week, we are dressing up as the Ghostbusters. There will be proton packs, obscene amounts of marshmallow and green slime. And to put a finer point on it, I'll be assuming the role of Bill Murray's character, the legendary Dr. Peter Venkman. 👻
Halloween is a huge deal in our house, especially with the kids getting older and now being obsessed with Ghostbusters. If it's a big deal for you, snap a photo of yourself or your kids in costume, reply to this email with the pic, and we'll try to feature a few of the best ones on the show next week. 📸
Now, onto the Halloween edition of the Rubin Recap. It's a grab bag of mostly tricks, if I'm being perfectly honest. But I promise one very nice treat below. We also have a sponsor that is perfect for those who overindulge this weekend. This new gameified treadmill by Aviron -- perfect post-Halloween item, especially with the holidays on the way, too.
New York City is facing what is essentially a looming horror movie. Voters go to the polls Tuesday and, by all indications, the communist candidate Zohran Mamdani is going to win. Look, barring something supernatural happening over the next couple days, tough times are ahead for NYC. Maybe there’s a glimmer of hope, but I’m not confident.
At least Mamdani was forced to walk back the lie about his aunt being afraid to ride the subway wearing her hijab after 9/11. Turns out his aunt doesn't wear a hijab and doesn't even live in New York.
Mamdani has treated his entire campaign like Halloween. You see him dressed up in a suit and tie, and he looks harmless and maybe even a little charming. But it's all a costume. As I've said many times, Mamdani is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Well, now we have the video showing the wolf in wolf's clothing. If you're in NYC and reading this, please vote accordingly on Tuesday.

It's nothing but trickery all the time with Gavin Newsom. He lies and lies, and lies some more. For those keeping score at home, he got caught lying this week about growing up poor. And he managed to work Charlie Kirk into another lie.
Newsom is an evil lizard man, and the lie he told about Charlie Kirk is a perfect demonstration of that. Earlier this year, Newsom had Charlie on his podcast and he told Charlie to his face that his teenage son was a Charlie Kirk superfan who wanted to take the day of school to meet him. This week, Newsom was on CNN, and he insisted that his son was not a fan of Charlie's at all -- just that he was aware of who Charlie was.
Gavin, I’m going to speak directly to you now (so please, someone, forward him this email): This is why you will never be president. There are so many of these videos of you wantonly lying. Americans will see right through it all. Some friendly advice: give up now.
I could go on and on with the tricks, quite frankly — like the liar-in-chief, Barack Obama, talking about wanting the government to censor Americans’ speech. But I gotta get to the treat, people.
And that treat is none other than your president, Donald J. Trump. Trump was on a tour of Asia this week, where he racked up win after win. In Malaysia, he was on hand for the signing of a peace deal between Cambodia and Thailand, a ceasefire his administration led negotiations on.
He was in Japan, meeting with the new prime minister, then on to South Korea for meetings with the president there and a big trade meeting with China’s president.
But it’s the speech he gave in South Korea that I want you to focus on. It’s basically Trump giving his philosophy for success.
“True success comes from having the confidence and the courage to prove the doubters wrong. And oftentimes you'll go the opposite way of almost everybody and you'll be the one that's right and the others will be wrong,” Trump told the audience. “And that's where you have your greatest successes.”
That’s Trump in a nutshell. He’s a guy who went the opposite way. And look where he is now — and look at what he’s doing for this country.
He didn’t go into it in the speech, but I’d like to hear about how he has such incredible success avoiding jet lag. The guy is all over the world, and never seems tired after these big trips. There he was last night, handing out candy to trick-or-treaters at the White House, and pulling one of his old pranks.
I’ve been back from Australia since Tuesday, and I’m still fighting the jet lag. OK, check out the sit-down interview this week, and I changed things up a bit for our weekly poll. See below.
SIT-DOWN INTERVIEW OF THE WEEK: Miami Mayor Francis Suarez
The great Francis Suarez joined me for a discussion about what is going on in Blue Cities, and why the mayors there are doubling down on policies that are tanking their cities. Suarez, who’s in his final days in office, also talked about what a Mamdani win would mean for NYC — and places like Miami. He also weighed in on how Trump has redefined what it means to be “presidential” and the decisions he made that’s led to off-the-charts growth in Miami during his time in office. Great interview, be sure to watch the whole thing.
Rubio and Vance tied for lead in weekly Top Trump Peeps poll

Will you look at that chart above? Vance and Rubio finished in a tie this week in our power rankings. Interesting implications for 2028, I tell ya. And JD made headlines again this week with his Q&A session at a Turning Point USA event. The VP held a masterclass on answering tough questions honestly and clearly, and foreshadowed what he might look like during debates in 2028. (Turns out, that’s two treats for this newsletter.)
Also, look at Sean Duffy coming in 4th place. I added him this week at the request of a reader. The only other time I had him in the poll, he snagged just a handful of votes. I thought reader dlhelmuth really summed up the results of this poll succinctly with his comment (yes, I read all your comments). Vance/Rubio 2028? 👀

I’m switching things up a little this week. Instead of Trump administration power rankings, I want to know: who is the worst member of the Democrat party right now. Choices, choices! Get your vote in ⬇️

What to know
• The Don’t Burn This World tour has concluded for 2025 following the Australia leg. If you weren’t over in Australia, here are a few highlights that you might want to catch up on:
→ I get asked all the time about what’s next for the MAGA movement after Trump finishes his second term. Well, at the Consilium Conference hosted by The Centre For Independent Studies last week, I dove right into that and explored the shifting political landscape in the U.S., and gave my prediction for the future of MAGA after Trump. I also laid out what it’s going take for the MAGA movement to thrive for years to come. Watch it here.
• A new episode of Actual Friends dropped today. Somehow had time to fit that in this week, and it was a good one. Talked with Jillian Michaels and Dr. Drew Pinsky about a new evolutionary biology theory that attempts to explain why women are more likely to adopt “woke beliefs” than men — among other things. Click here to subscribe so you don’t miss any episodes.
• The second batch of Copal the official tequila of free speech, is still available, but likely will sell out soon. So if you’re looking to pick up a bottle for the holidays as gift, or just want to add Copal to your liquor cabinet, now is the time. We’re still running a deal — buy three bottles, we’ll ship them to you for free.
• Reminder — The Rubin Report merch store has been re-opened featuring our new fall collection. Check it all out here.
• Don’t forget to give Upward News a try — Ari, a good friend of mine, runs it and you can count me as a subscriber already.
